Sanatan Sangeet Sanskriti hosted 'Festival of Young Talent' at IILM Lodhi Road.

Sanatan Sangeet Sanskriti hosted 'Festival of Young Talent' on Friday, November 26th, 2010 at IILM Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The Sanskriti has organized this festival for the first time to promote and encourage young talent of our country in the field of vocal, classical, western classical and instrumental music. In this years' concert, the Sanskriti promoted Kum Anagha M, Veena Venkataramani, Sukanya Banerjee and Ankita Kumar who will be performing on different forms of music.


The Sanatan Sangeet Sanskriti has been consistently trying, over many years, to identify and encourage young talent in our country in the field of music, dance, arts and sculpture. This year the Sanskriti has organized this festival to run alongside the flagship Sanatan Awards at which senior artists are presented with a Samman and younger artists who have already some recognition are encouraged with Sanatan Puraskars so that they can gain more experience and achieve their full potential in the years to come.


The first awardee, Kum Anagha M, 9 years old, has been learning Classical Carnatic music from a very young age. She has won several prizes in various competitions for Classical Music, Light Music, Bharatnatyam including the Nehru Bal Samiti Gold Medal for the past two years. Veena Vankataramani, the second awardee, 16 years old, has been learning Veena from the age of 7. She has been awarded the CCRT ( Centre for Cultural Research and Training) by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for Carnatic Music Vocal in 2007. She has given a number of much acclaimed Veena recitals including at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The third young artist, Sukanya Banerjee, 19 years old, is well versed not only in Hindustani Classical music but also Light Classical music, Rabindra Sangeet and nazrul Geeti. She has also won numerous awards in the solo classical category. The last awardee, Ankita Kumar, a versatile Piano artist, can play Western Classical as well as hindi film music with equal ease. At a comparatively younger age of 23, she is already teaching other young aspirants and performs regularly at hotel Maurya Sheraton.
