Sanatan Sangeet Samman, 2010 conferred upon Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.
IILM Institute for Higher Education hosted the Sanatan Sangeet Samman Samaroh on Saturday, November 27th, 2010 at IILM Lodi Road campus. This year the Sanatan Sangeet Samman has been conferred upon Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma for his personal excellence and contribution to the Indian Classical Music. The Sanskriti has also awarded Sanatan Nritya Puraskar to Navia Natarajan for her achievement in the area of music and dance and Sanatan Kalakriti Puraskar to Tirthankar Biswas for his achievements and potential in the field of painting and sculpture.
On this occasion, the Sanskriti had also organized a special concert by Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, accompanied on the canvas by Tirthankar Biswas and followed by Bharat Natyam recital by Navia Natarajan. The event served as a forum for promotion of Music, Dance and Indian Arts.
Sanatan Sangeet Sanskriti is dedicated to honor outstanding artists, promote young talent and provide facilities for research in Music, Dance and other forms of Arts. Since 1993, the Sanatan Sangeet Sanskriti has been awarding outstanding artists like Pandit Birju Maharaj, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Dr L. Subramanium to name a few. And from 2006 onwards, the Sanskriti has also been awarding Sanatan Kalakriti Puraskar to a selected artist for his/her contribution in the field of painting/sculpture. This award was given to Sri Manav Gupta in 2006, Shri Subrata Kundu in 2007, Ms. Shuchi Khanna in 2008, and Ms. Prabha Shah in 2009.
