ABOUT MAT
\n<\/strong>
\nManagement Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national-level management entrance examination. The test scores are used for admission to various MBA, PGDM and allied management programmes across India. The exam is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA). More than 600 B-Schools accept MAT exam scores for admissions. MAT aspirants can choose any one of the two options: Paper Based Test or Computer Based Test. The Paper Based Test is conducted on the first Sunday of February, May, September and December from 10.00-12.30 hours; whereas the Computer Based Test is conducted from Saturday onwards (6 days after the Paper Based Test date) and in different time slots.<\/p>\n

WHEN IT IS HELD<\/strong><\/p>\n

MAT is held four times in a year: February, May, September and December.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

MAT February 2017: Paper Based Test was held on February 5, 2017, and the Computer Based Test was conducted on February 11, 2017. Results were declared on Feb 24, 2017.<\/em><\/p>\n

MAT May 2017: Paper Based Test was held on May 7, 2017 and the Computer Based Test was conducted on May 11, 12 and 13, 2017. Results were declared on May 25, 2017.<\/em><\/p>\n

MAT September 2017:Paper Based Test was held on September 3, 2017 and the Computer Based Test will be conducted on September 9, 2017.<\/em><\/p>\n

MAT December 2017: Paper Based Test will be held on December 10, 2017 and the Computer Based Test will be conducted on December 16, 2017.<\/em><\/p>\n

ELIGIBILITY<\/strong><\/p>\n

The eligibility criteria for the MAT 2017 exam are:<\/p>\n

Qualification Criteria<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2022 Candidates should have completed graduation or in the final year of graduation in any field are eligible to take the MAT exam.<\/p>\n

Percentage Criteria<\/em><\/p>\n

Achieve minimum passing marks in graduation to appear the examination. The candidates are suggested to refer the information brochures of particular Management Institutes\/ Universities for the same.<\/p>\n

APPLICATION PROCESS<\/strong><\/p>\n

The forms are available in both Paper and Computer based mode. Offline (paper based) forms are available at selected AIMA branch or the head office. The online (computer based) forms are available at the official website of MAT\/AIMA. The candidates should:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Click on https:\/\/apps.aima.in\/matsept17\/
\n\u2022 Register to obtain the login id and password
\n\u2022 Fill in the application details and submit the form
\n\u2022 Make the payment to complete the application procedure.<\/p>\n

Fees and payment mode<\/strong><\/p>\n

MAT 2017 application fees is Rs. 1400. Candidates can apply through any one of three following modes:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Online Payment<\/strong><\/em>
\nBy registering online via Credit Card\/Debit Card (ATM Card) payment. Detailed procedure is given on the MAT website link. Add THE HYPERLINK: www.aima.in\/testing-services\/mat\/mat.html<\/p>\n

\u2022 Demand Draft<\/strong><\/em>
\nObtain crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 1400 in favour of \u2018All India Management Association\u2019 payable at Delhi from any bank. Then register online along with the DD details.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Cash<\/strong><\/em>
\nObtain form with MAT Bulletin\/ CD against a cash payment of Rs. 1400 from listed Nodal Centres of AIMA or from AIMA, New Delhi.<\/p>\n

Candidates who have opted for computer-based test<\/strong> can choose the date and time slot which is subject to availability. While filling up admission forms, candidates need to fill in details of five management institutes during registration. MAT scores will be sent directly to these institutes. Those who want their scores to be sent to more than 5 institutes will have to fill up a seperate form available on MAT website. They will have to pay Rs. 75 per institute before the test date and Rs. 100 after the test date.<\/p>\n

Date and time slot for the exam will be automatically allotted by the system to those candidates who do not select their slot up to four days before the computer-based test.<\/p>\n

ADMIT CARD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Candidates can download their admit cards from AIMA website by entering name, DOB and application form number. Separate admit cards are generated for MAT aspirants who opt for the paper-based test and for the computer-based test. It contains the candidate\u2019s name, form no., roll no., test date, test time and test venue address. In case of computer-based test, candidates have to strictly follow the date and time allotted.<\/p>\n

Admit card is not mailed to any candidate.<\/em><\/p>\n

TEST PATTERN<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

MAT exam is held for 2.5 hours. The test covers 200 questions in 150 minutes. The aspriants are tested in the following five areas with 40 questions each:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Indian and Global Environment,
\n\u2022 Language Comprehension,
\n\u2022 Data Analysis and Sufficiency,
\n\u2022 Mathematical Skills,
\n\u2022 Intelligence and Critical Reasoning<\/p>\n

Negative Marking:<\/em> There are 40 questions in each section. Each question carries 1 mark, whereas, 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.<\/p>\n

TIPS FOR EXAM PREPARATION<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Here are a few general tips for MAT exam preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Candidates should try practice reading \u2018Reading Comprehension\u2019 passages for preparation.
\n\u2022 It is imperative to refresh all the basics of grammar and to understand the contextual usage of words and phrases in English.
\n\u2022 For Quant, Arithmetic and Algebra based questions should be practised.
\n\u2022 Keep an update about the current affairs and issues both nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n

Preparation Strategy<\/strong><\/p>\n

The paper can be split into three parts primarily which is concept based, practice based and environment sensitive. Mathematical Skills & select areas of Language Comprehension are concept based where the questions are majorly dependent on the candidate’s conceptual clarity with respect to core fundamentals; Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis & Sufficiency and select areas of English Language Proficiency are practice based where regular practice of similar questions is important; Indian & Global Environment is environment sensitive where an awareness with respect to current affairs is the focus.<\/p>\n
