{"id":4045,"date":"2019-02-06T07:57:19","date_gmt":"2019-02-06T02:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.iilm.edu\/?p=4045"},"modified":"2019-02-06T07:57:19","modified_gmt":"2019-02-06T02:27:19","slug":"group_discussions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iilm.edu\/blog\/group_discussions\/","title":{"rendered":"Group Discussions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Why \u2013 Skills assessed during a Group Discussion<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An employee in an organisation works with people and teams.\u00a0 Many companies use Group Discussions (GD) in the selection process for management trainees or entry level managers.\u00a0 Employers are looking for candidates who have potential to be executives and to lead a group of people, as also be a team player.\u00a0 Furthermore, Group Discussions precede the face-to-face interview.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 GD can be used to check many aspects of a potential employee :-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thought process<\/strong> &#8211; clarity of thought, expression and aptness of language.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Persuasive Skills<\/strong>\u2013 The ability to analyse and persuade others to see the problem from multiple perspectives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Communication and articulation skills<\/strong> &#8211; how good is the person at communicating with other people.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interactive skills<\/strong> \u2013 how does a person interacts with other members a team. Emotional maturity and balance are essential for good interpersonal relationships.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Listening Skills<\/strong> &#8211; a willingness to accommodate others views.<\/li>\n<li>Attitude, Personality, Confidence, Body Language,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>How<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During GDs a groups of 8-10 candidates are formed into a leaderless group.\u00a0 For the purpose of discussions:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They may be given a topic and are asked to discuss the same.
