Assistant Professor

Biography

Ms. Neha Sriavstava, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Biotechnology joined IILM in July 2016. She has completed her B.tech & M.Tech (Bio-tech) from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida in 2009. During her B.Tech and M.Tech programme she has worked on a research project entitled “Screening of Developmentally Regulated Nuclear Protein Binding Sites from Chick Embryo.” She was awarded Gold Medal for securing first position in 5 years of B.Tech – M.Tech Dual Degree (Biotechnology) Programe.?She was also selected as a suitable candidate for Teacher Assistantship Program during her M.Tech programme and got scholarship for the same. She is GATE qualified (Biotechnology 2012; Score: 368) aspirant.

She has continued her academic career from Integral University, Lucknow (July, 2009-Jan, 2013) where she was engaged in teaching graduates and undergraduates students of Bio-tech department as well as students on their research project work. After that she has worked on a Department of Biotechnology (DBT, Government of India) funded research project, entitled “Purification of Chikungunya virus nsP3 protein for peptide based inhibitor and structural studies” at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida 201301, Uttar Pradesh, India. (Feb 2014 – Jan 2016), where she was engaged in Cloning and expression of viral proteins, their purification at small as well as large scale using AKTA [GE Healthcare, Unicorn] and identification of peptide binders using phage display peptide library.

During her research career she has developed her expertise in many wet lab techniques and practices such as large scale protein purification (AKTA [GE Healthcare, Unicorn], affinity chromatography & ion exchange chromatography), Protein Characterization (SDS-PAGE & Western blotting), Molecular Biology techniques (PCR, colony PCR, genomic and plasmid isolation, agarose electrophoresis, Native PAGE), Cloning and culturing techniques, diagnosis. She has also worked on Basic Bioinformatics tools and softwares.

In CET-IILM, she is engaged in teaching and research where she was covering undergraduates courses related to Biotechnology (Molecular biology, Genetics, Enzyme Engineering and Forensic Biotechnology). She is also guiding undergraduate students as a supervisor in their project work and also guiding M.tech student as an Internal Supervisor. Recently a Interdisciplinary B.Tech students team has been selected at international forum under her guidance for the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2017 and will go New York City, United Nations for final presentaion on 21 Sept, 2017.

Her research interest area includes functional genomics and proteomics. She has many International and national publications. She keeps herself up to date in field of science and research by actively participating in International and national conferences.
