Masterclass on Public Policy

The Masterclass aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of policymaking, governance systems, and the role of professionals in shaping public institutions; Mr. Misra began by sharing his professional journey from investment banking to public service, emphasising how global exposure can contribute to solving grassroots-level challenges in India. He highlighted the importance of efficient governance, accountability, and effective implementation of welfare schemes, discussed key challenges in regional development, and explained how integrating data-driven approaches with on-ground realities can lead to better policy outcomes. The session addressed the role of private capital and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in supporting developmental initiatives, and Mr. Misra shared insights into his social initiative, the Aabhar Trust, which works towards the welfare of children of martyred police personnel. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A where students asked questions related to public policy, governance challenges, and career opportunities in the field, with active participation from students across disciplines engaging through thoughtful questions and discussions. Key outcomes included enhanced understanding of public policy and governance, exposure to real-world policymaking challenges, increased awareness of CSR and social initiatives, encouragement to explore careers in public service, and improved engagement in academic discussions.
