The Workshop on Sports Psychology aimed to provide students with practical and theoretical understanding of psychological factors influencing sports performance, athlete well-being, and mental resilience. The sessions highlighted the growing importance of sports psychology in coaching, performance enhancement, stress management, and athlete development. Students also gained exposure to career opportunities and professional practices in the field of sports psychology.
Technical Session 1: Psychological Approach for Effective Coaching in Sports – Prof. (Dr.) Dileep K. Dureha focused on psychological principles in coaching, athlete motivation, leadership, and performance optimization.
Technical Session 2: Psychological Skills and Interventions – From Theory to Practice – Dr. Anuradha Solanki discussed practical psychological interventions, stress management techniques, and mental skills training for enhancing sports performance.
Technical Session 3: Sports Psychology as a Professional Practice – Roles and Career Pathways – Prof. Anil Ramachandran provided insights into professional opportunities, career pathways, and the expanding scope of sports psychology in India and globally.
Technical Session 4: Sports Psychology Association of India (SPAI) – Role, Activities, and Professional Engagement – Dr. Anil Karwande explained the role of SPAI and highlighted opportunities for student engagement, internships, research, and professional development.
A major highlight of the workshop was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IILM University and SPAI to promote academic collaboration, training, internships, and research initiatives. The interactive discussions and expert guidance provided students with practical exposure and a deeper understanding of applied sports psychology. The workshop concluded with a valedictory session and vote of thanks, with organizers emphasizing the importance of integrating applied sports psychology training into psychology education and professional development.
