Associate Professor
Dr Akhilesh Kumar Mishra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at IILM University, Greater Noida, where he has been serving since February 2024 and was promoted to Associate Professor in October 2025. He is Faculty-in-Charge of the Electrosapien Club and the department’s representative in the University Examination Cell. He earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, in July 2023, with his doctoral thesis focused on intelligent control techniques for frequency support in interconnected power systems integrated with renewable energy sources. He completed his M.Tech. in Control and Instrumentation from MNNIT Allahabad (2013) and his B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from UPTU Lucknow (2008). Dr Mishra brings over 17 years of teaching and research experience across reputed institutions affiliated with AKTU Lucknow, RGPV Bhopal, and BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus.
Dr. Mishra’s research centres on load frequency control, renewable energy grid integration, fractional-order and fuzzy intelligent controllers, and deep learning-based power forecasting. He has authored several high-impact research articles in prestigious SCI/SCIE and Scopus-indexed journals, including three publications in Q1 SCIE journals — two in ISA Transactions (Impact Factor: 6.5) and one in Electric Power Systems Research (Impact Factor: 4.2). Notably, his articles on self-tuning fractional-order fuzzy control for deregulated power systems and on fuzzy-based nonlinear deloading for islanded microgrids were each listed as the Most Popular Article in ISA Transactions for three consecutive years (2021–2023 and 2023–2026, respectively). He has also contributed 11 SCOPUS-indexed papers at IEEE and IFAC flagship conferences, including IEEE TENCON, INDICON, NPSC, PIICON, and the IFAC Joint Conference (SSSC-TDS-LPVS 2022, Montreal, Canada). Additionally, he has authored three Springer book chapters (Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems; Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering), further establishing his scholarly profile.
In terms of research supervision, he co-guided Dr. Tushar Verma whose PhD was awarded in July 2025 by Integral University, Lucknow, on fractional-order heart rate control for cardiac pacemakers. He has also been appointed as an External Member of the Research Supervisory Committee (SRC) for two PhD scholars at SR University, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh (2026). At the postgraduate level, he has successfully guided two M.Tech. dissertations at AKTU Lucknow on PID and FOPID-based control systems.
Dr Mishra is an active member of the international research community, serving as a peer reviewer for leading journals including ISA Transactions, IEEE Access, IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, Scientific Reports (Springer), Energy Reports, and Arabian Journal of Science and Engineering, as well as IEEE conferences including PEDES, INDICON, CoDIT, and as a Reviewing Editor at Springer Nature. He has also served as an examination paper setter and evaluator for Integral University Lucknow, SHUATS Prayagraj, and AKTU Lucknow. He has delivered an invited talk on ‘Integration of Wind Energy Resources in the Electric Grid’ (December 2023) and participated in various national and international FDPs and workshops, including programmes at IIIT Kota, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Jalandhar, NIT Bhopal, CNRS-CentraleSupelec (France), and Manipal Institute of Technology.
Dr Mishra is also a life member of the Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI). His profile is indexed on the Vidwan National Research Network (ID: 369274), Google Scholar (Citations: 290+, H-index: 9, i10-index: 9), and Scopus (Author ID: 57214672322), reflecting a well-established and internationally recognised scholarly presence.
