
Assistant Professor
Dr. Kushal Mazumder is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, School of Sciences. He obtained his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore in 2020, where his research focused on multifunctional applications of topological insulator materials such as Bi2Se3. He previously worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at SRM University, Chennai, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Jain University, Bengaluru, where he conducted research on two-dimensional quantum materials and nanostructured devices. His research interests include the synthesis and growth of two-dimensional quantum materials, vdW heterostructures, topological insulators, and their applications in energy storage, sensing, and electronic devices.
Dr. Mazumder has authored more than 10 research papers in reputed international journals such as Small, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, along with several conference proceedings. He is also the co-author of the book ‘Two-Dimensional Quantum Materials’ (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2024) and holds a published patent on the synthesis of a 1T phase Janus MoSSe structure.
His academic achievements include prestigious recognitions such as the INSPIRE Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and the MHRD Doctoral Fellowship. He also received the Best Poster Award at AsiaNANO 2024 (IIT Madras). With extensive experience in nanomaterials synthesis, device fabrication, and advanced characterization techniques, Dr. Mazumder continues to contribute to the development of next-generation quantum materials and nanotechnology research.
